Nakshatras
Mula nakshatra
Mula is the 19th of the 27 nakshatras, spanning 0°00′ Sagittarius to 13°20′ Sagittarius in the sidereal zodiac. Its ruling planet is Ketu, its deity is Nirriti, goddess of dissolution, and its symbol is a bundle of roots. Jyotish associates it with the root — getting to the bottom of things, undoing in order to rebuild.

Because Ketu rules Mula, someone whose Moon was here at birth begins life in the Ketu mahadasha, for the part of it that remains according to how far the Moon had travelled through the nakshatra.
Each nakshatra has four padas (quarters) of 3°20′. The pada decides the navamsa — the ninth-harmonic chart Jyotish reads for marriage and inner strength — and the syllable a name traditionally begins with. Mula's padas fall in the Aries, Taurus, Gemini and Cancer navamsas.
Its gana is Rakshasa, its nadi Adi (Vata) and its yoni the dog — three of the eight factors Guna Milan compares when matching two charts (nadi alone carries 8 of the 36 points).
